The Platinum Designer’s Daruma are bold statements of gold and silver, each gleaming with a mirror coating. A combination of traditional Japanese culture and contemporary design, these lucky dolls are objets d’art to inspire and encourage.
Three flowing lines on each side of the lucky doll’s body symbolize the passage of time from the past to the future. Poetic Japanese word equations — “Korobu x 7” and “Okiru x 8” — allude to the wise Japanese proverb: “Fall down seven times, get up eight.” To fall is not to fail, it’s an opportunity to get up for a fresh start. It’s a message to never give up hope and that courage and strength lies in resilience and perseverance.
Designer’s Daruma are made with recycled paper and hand painted. Each one is a unique piece of art conceived by Designer 2104, a product designer renowned for revitalizing traditional and cultural objects in Japan with new and innovative concepts.
